Progeny in the Herd:

   Ruby is a massive doe that towers over most animals. She has a remarkable amount of body capacity, spring of rib, and substance that, combined with her dairy strength and femininity, contributes to creating a balanced, powerful, animal. Ruby has an impressive will to milk, but unfortunately, she had a precocious udder as a dry yearling, which led to her going down with a horrible case of mastitis 4 weeks before she was due as a 2 year old. The mastitis extensively damaged her RT side, and her LS also sustained noticeable damage. We managed to pull her through the high fever and beat the stubborn infection, to the surprise of my vet. It is a shame that Ruby will never have a normal lactation, but every indication is that she would have been a spectacular milking doe.
   Ruby carried quads with ease as a 2nd freshener and blessed me with two doelings, who were quickly retained, in 2026. I am looking forward to proving out Ruby's future offspring and I am hoping to continue to build my herd off of such a remarkable doe for years to come.
